Design System & Worldbuilding
Each Bobaverse card follows a consistent structure to reinforce its identity as a collectible trading card:
• Full-art character illustration inspired by a boba flavor
• Pastel, flavor-driven color palettes
• Animal spirits with distinct personalities
• Elemental themes (fire, moon, wind, ice, nature)
• Fine-print details such as card numbering and series labeling
The visual system was designed to feel soft, playful, and approachable, while still maintaining clarity and consistency across the entire set.
Card Back & Emblem Design
The back of each card features a custom emblem that represents the spirit’s elemental theme. Inspired by traditional trading cards, these emblems were designed to be iconic, readable at small sizes, and visually unified across the collection.
The emblem system reinforces the idea that Bobaverse exists as a complete world, allowing the cards to feel intentional and collectible even when the illustrations are not visible.
Final Thoughts
Bobaverse allowed me to explore illustration beyond individual pieces by designing a cohesive system rooted in storytelling, flavor, and character. This project strengthened my ability to balance consistency with variation, and to think about illustration as part of a larger design framework.
In the future, Bobaverse could expand into physical trading cards, packaging, or digital collectibles.
